Romanian-American aerospace engineer Salvatore Pais!

PDF

ON THIS DAY IN 2016. April 28, 2016. Romanian-American aerospace engineer Salvatore Pais, stationed at NAS Patuxent River in Maryland, files a patent for a “craft using an inertial mass reduction device,” one embodiment of which could be a high speed “hybrid aerospace/undersea craft” able to “engineer the fabric of our reality at the most fundamental level,” the patent application for which is supported by the Naval Aviation Enterprise’s chief technical officer on the grounds that the Chinese military are already developing similar technology. This patent is subsequently approved and published on December 4, 2018, and assigned to the US Navy; it would have lasted until 2036, but it expired early on January 9, 2023, due to non-payment of maintenance fees. Starting in 2015, Pais has filed patent applications on behalf of his employers with futuristic-sounding names suggesting potential military and energy-producing applications, including a plasma compression fusion device, an electromagnetic field generator, and a high-frequency gravitational wave generator.” No working prototype of any of these concepts is ever developed. These attract attention, as well as speculation that they may be disinformation intended to mislead the United States’ strategic adversaries about the direction of the country’s defense research. NAS Patuxent River is also suspected of housing recovered UFO materials as early as the 1950s. Several of Pais's patents, including the electromagnetic field generator and the high-frequency gravitational wave generator, have since expired due to non-payment of maintenance fees, and the plasma compression fusion device patent application was abandoned, suggesting that neither Pais nor the Navy is actively pursuing these technologies through the patent system.
