ICE Agents Track Father to His Home and Hotel Months After Email About Alex Pretti’s Death
Rochester, New York resident David Streever says ICE agents showed up at his home while he was on vacation in Finland with his 7-year-old daughter, then later attempted to locate him at the hotel where he was staying after he returned to New York City.
The visit was reportedly over an email Streever sent to then-ICE Director Todd Lyons in January, days after ICE agents fatally shot Alex Pretti and Renee Good in Minnesota. Streever says the email was written out of grief and anger but did not contain a threat. His attorney agrees, arguing it was protected political speech.

According to Streever, agents told his wife they were investigating whether he “may or may not have sent an email threatening the director of ICE.” DHS says it takes threats against ICE personnel seriously but declined to explain how agents knew his home address or the hotel where he was staying, citing an ongoing investigation.
This is no longer an isolated incident. Streever is now the second person in New York to publicly report being contacted by ICE after criticizing the agency. A Syracuse woman also said federal agents visited her over a social media post critical of ICE.
