🚨 TRUMP’S BOOK BANNING AT NAVAL ACADEMY AXES MAYA ANGELOU—BUT KEEPS HITLER 🚨

Gone from the U.S. Naval Academy’s library: “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” Maya Angelou’s powerful memoir detailing her fight through racism, trauma, and identity. Also gone: “Memorializing the Holocaust,” Janet Jacobs’s examination of how female victims of the Holocaust have been remembered and erased.

Still on the shelves? “Mein Kampf” by Adolf Hitler—two copies.
Still available? “The Camp of the Saints,” a white supremacist fantasy endorsed by Trump adviser Stephen Miller.
Still untouched? “The Bell Curve,” which claims Black Americans are genetically less intelligent than white people—while its rebuttal was removed.

The purge was ordered by Trump’s political appointees inside the Department of the Navy. Nearly 400 books were pulled from the Nimitz Library at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, a revered institution that trains future military leaders. The criteria? Books flagged for violating Trump’s executive orders on “diversity, equity, and inclusion.”

The result, say alumni and academics, is a chilling act of ideological censorship.

“This does a real disservice to the students,” said Risa Brooks, a political science professor. “We want officers who are resilient—who can face ideas that make them uncomfortable. That’s part of leadership.”

Admiral James Stavridis, a Naval Academy graduate and former NATO commander, agrees: “Book banning can be a canary in a coal mine. We need officers who are educated, not indoctrinated.”

He singled out Angelou’s memoir as essential reading for military leaders seeking to understand the diverse experiences of the people they command.

So why is Hitler’s ideology still sitting quietly on the shelves while Angelou’s voice was silenced?

When political agendas dictate which truths are accessible, we stop educating—and start erasing.
